It’s Earth Day on Saturday, and, boy, do we know how to keep things green around here! Protect and honor our home planet by joining one of many local Earth Day celebrations and volunteer events with your crew! Amid fair, flower and friendship fun — all detailed below — catch a sunbreak for a frolic at the playground pick of the week. Enjoy!

10 more activities for family fun this weekend:

  1. Yeehaw! It’s the second and final weekend to partake in fair fun — food, rides, animals, entertainment — at the Washington State Spring Fair (Thursday–Sunday).
  2. Kick off your weekend by stuffing your car full of pillows and kids to catch a silly family-favorite movie at the drive-in (Friday).
  3. Blast off to outer space, without leaving town, by catching a fascinating show at a local planetarium (Friday–Saturday).
  4. Drizzling? Head to the library for free Lego play sessions to build and create with fellow enthusiasts (Friday, Sunday).
  5. Don’t let this arctic spring keep you cooped up indoors. It’s a free day at both state and national parks, so suit up your crew and head outside (Saturday).
  6. Experience some spring spirit at the sweet Junior Daffodil Parade (Saturday).
  7. Turn up to watch super-skilled yo-yo competitors walk the dog and so much more, plus perhaps learn a trick or two yourself (Saturday).
  8. In honor of Earth Day, learn ideas for living a little greener at free family sustainability fairs in Tacoma (Saturday) and Renton (Sunday).
  9. Delightful StoryBook Theater presents its designed-for-kids modern spin on the story of "Rapunzel" — weekend shows include a sensory-friendly performance (Saturday–Sunday).
  10. The free and heartwarming International Children’s Friendship Festival features kids performing music and dance, from India to Ireland, and other cultures across the globe (Saturday).
